Charter Renewal Table of Contents
Bolded Charter Items are due on December 9, 2011 by 5pm.
Renewal Instructions - Use this step-by-step guide to go online and update, submit, and print your Renewal Application. (Also see the Summary Instructions and Charter Timeline.) Renewal Application needs 3 Signatures: The Chartering Organization Executive Officer, your Cubmaster/Scoutmaster/Advisor/Skipper, and your Unit Commissioner/District Executive.
Charter Agreement - This needs 2 Signatures: The Chartering Organization Executive Officer and your Unit Commissioner/District Executive.
Youth Applications & Adult Applications - Please include signed applications for any NEW youth/adults that are listed on the cover page to your renewal application. Most new youth/adults should have been turned in to the Service Center prior to the charter renewal process. However, if you've added any members manually, you MUST include a signed application with your renewal application. Adult applications must have 3 signatures: Adult, Committee Chairman, and Chartering Organization Representative.
Journey to Excellence - This form should be filled out with your Committee and Signed by your Unit Commissioner. Please contact your Unit Commissioner/District Executive with any questions regarding requirements.

MyScouting Tutorial- Additional instruction for navigating online. MyScouting.org is your primary tool for Advancements, BeAScout.org, Rechartering, and Training. You may use this tutorial (steps 1-19) to help train other adults on how to use MyScouting to complete their YPT requirements and so on.
Unit Meeting Inspection Sheet - A resource to help your committee determine the safety of your current meeting locations. Discuss the results of the evaluation as a committee.
Accident Insurance Pamphlet - Des Plaines Valley Council covers all registered youth under a secondary accident insurance policy. This pamphlet provides the policy details and the option for a unit to enroll their adults in a similar policy. Please contact the Service Center with any questions.
Training Calendar - A schedule of the Adult leader trainings available for the 2011-2012 Program Year. All Top Direct Contact leaders are required to be "Fully Trained" by December 2012 (Cubmaster/Scoutmaster/Advisor/Skipper). All Direct Contact leaders are required to be fully trained by December 2013 (Den leaders/Assistant Den leaders/Assistant ScoutmasterS/Merit Badge Counselors/Assistant Advisors/Assistant Skippers). Please contact your District Training Chair and/or your District Executive for a current list of which unit leaders still need training.
