Cub Scout Leader Basic Training

All Cub Scout leaders and parents of Cub Scouts are invited and encouraged to attend Basic Leader Training conducted numerous times during the Scouting year. Subjects included in this instruction are Aims and Methods of Cub Scouting, Purpose, Rules and Regulations, plus others. there is also a session of "hands on" training appropriate to the Scouting position you have registered for (i.e. Den Leader, Cubmaster, etc.).

Basic Training courses can be one session or a series of training sessions designed to give job-related information to Cub Scout leaders. We conduct basic training by group sessions.

Because of time, basic training covers few topics in detail. It introduces some skills, but leaders develop these skills by practice over a long period of time. Basic Training encourages leaders to take part in supplemental training. It also helps leaders understand the importance of continuous self-development. The theories and principles discussed in training courses are more meaningful when leaders put them to use.

Basic training is a requirement for all Cub Scout leader awards.

Contact the Council Service Center for more information about registration, times, and places. Other information will be distributed at the monthly Roundtable meetings.
