Cub Scout Fast Start Training
Fast Start Training is available to all persons interested in the Cub Scout program. This training is NOT designed to replace Basic Leader Training, but rather to provide you with a quick introduction to the program and provide an overview of the Cub Scout Program. Copies may be purchased at the Scout Shop or you may check out a copy from the Service Center supply.
Fast Start is the first level of training. It provides information to aid new leaders in carrying out their responsibilities for the first few weeks and to motivate them to attend Cub Scout Leader Basic Training.
Cub Scout Leader Fast Start is available on the internet at the BSA Online Learning Center (Opens in a new window)
The following Fast Start videotapes are available at the Council Service Center:
- The New Den Leader
- The New Webelos Den Leader
- The New Cubmaster
- Pack Organization, and
- The New Tiger Cub Group Coach.
A Viewers Guide aids leaders in using the videotapes.
To gain the most benefit from Fast Start, follow this self-study with personal coaching by a knowledgeable Cub Scouter. This is to make sure that a new leader has a clear understanding of the job responsibilities. Leaders should complete Fast Start training before conducting their first meetings. Fast Start is the foundation for basic training, and a requirement for all Cub Scout leader awards.
