
The excitement is mounting as we move into the Cub Scout Racing Season! Three great races are on the horizon -- The Tall Grass Speedway, the Twin Lakes Raceway, and the Voyageur Trace Circuit. Who will win these grueling challenges? Will records be broken? How many spectators will join the fantastic racing teams competing in these fast paced contests?
How to Earn Laps and Win the Race
Each pack in each district is eligible to race. Pick up a copy of the Pit Stop Log and as you finish an milestone on the checklist, turn it in to your Pit Crew Chief (Unit Commissioner or District Executive.) The race begins in August and ends in December. Standings will be updated and posted on the web as the laps are recorded.
Laps are awarded as follows:
- Reach your Centennial Quality goal for recruiting youth – 1 lap
- Reach your Centennial Quality goal for recruiting adults – 1 lap
- Plan a rally day/night – 1 lap
- Help your DE plan a Boy Talk in your school or religious education classes – 1 lap
- Send recruitment flyers to your school(s) at least once – 1 lap
- A representative from your pack attends the Pack Round-up Training in July – 1 lap
- Get coverage in a newspaper, Chartered Organization's newlsetter, TV, etc. – 1 lap
- Have a pack level recruiting incentive – 1 lap
- Set up a recruiting booth at a local community event/school night – 1 lap
- Turn in youth applications in December – 1 lap
- Turn in youth applications in November – 2 laps
- Turn in youth applications in October – 3 laps
- Turn in youth applications in September – 4 laps
- Turn in youth applications in August – 5 laps
- Turn in completed charter renewal by Dec. 1st, 2009 – 1 lap
RULE: Your pack can only earn laps once for each milestone. For Example, you cannot earn 2 laps for sending out another round of flyers or for participating in 2 community events. The maximum number of laps that can be earned is 25.
TIE BREAKER: Should there be a tie for the winning pack, the pack that turned in its completed charter renewal paperwork first will be the winner of the race.
Prizes
The winning team (pack) in each race (district) will be awarded a sheet cake for their Blue and Gold Banquet, and will be recognized on the web site and in Cybernews!
