2010 Centennial Camporee: The Siege of Mafeking
On October 16th, 1899 the 6 mile perimeter of Mafeking was shelled after Colonel Robert Baden Powell ignored a 9am deadline of surrender to the Boers. The Colonel and his men would continue to protect the city from invasion for 217 days, until the Boers were defeated and Mafeking was relieved. The Mafeking forces comprised roughly of a 500 men regiment, 300 police, and a cadet corps of boys aged 12 to 15 formed to act as messengers and orderlies, later to be one of the inspirations for the Scouting Movement.

2010 Centennial Webelos-ree, 10/16/10
Are you a Webelos Scout? Are you earning your Arrow of Light? Have you visited a Boy Scout outdoor activity?
Well, you are invited to attend a special Webelos program during the Boy Scout Centennial Camporee: The Siege of Mafeking. It will be at the Green Valley DuPage County Forest Preserve in Woodridge IL on Saturday, 10/16/10 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Tall Grass Day Camp, June 14 to 16, 2009 or June 23 to 25, 2010
Join us for 3 days on a Survivor Adventure at the Lemont Park District Groves. With fun activities like: archery, nature, crafts, worm farms, bottle rockets, campfires, shooting sports and much more! All cub scouts will have the opportunity to earn belt loops, electives and achievements for the coming year!

Tall Grass District Pinewood Derby, November 14, 2009
Come and race your pinewood derby car at the Tall Grass District Pinewood Derby. All Cub Scouts in the Tall Grass District can race (Boys do NOT need to “qualify” by winning a pack derby). Boys who have just crossed over in Boy Scouts this year can race as Second Year Webelos.
The event will be Saturday, November 14th, 2009 from 9:00 am until 12:00 noon at the Old Quarry Middle School Cafeteria (Door 5), 16100 W 127th St. Lemont, IL.
