Clarita H. Froemel, Michael H. Jacobson, and Joseph Vucko.
These outstanding Scouters were nominated and selected by their peers to receive the Silver Beaver Award, which is the highest recognition that a Council may present. Please join us in honoring these outstanding volunteers during the Des Plaines Valley Council's Annual Recognition Banquet on February 16, 2012, at the Riverside Golf Club. Further details are on the registration form.
- Journey to Excellence:
Congratulations to the units who have achieved Gold, Silver, or Bronze status on their Journey to Excellence for 2011! But guess what? We still need your forms!
Obtain the proper
2011 Scorecard for your Pack, Troop, Crew, or Ship. Once achieved and submitted, don't forget to visit the Scout Shop for your 2011 Journey to Excellence patches and recognition.
- Donate your Vehicle to Support Scouting
- NESA Scholarship Applications for Eagle Scouts are now available at
http://www.nesa.org. The deadline for submitting applications is January 31.

New Tour Plan:
Effective March 1, 2011, what was known as the local and national tour permits will be superseded by what will be called the tour plan. It is an important tool for conducting local, national, or international activities and is a checklist for best practices to be prepared for safe and fun adventure.
- North Star Award:
The Boy Scouts of America through the National Court of Honor may award the North Star Award for distinguished service to Scouting by non-Scouters. This award is on par with the Silver Beaver which recognizes registered Scouters for their distinguished service.
