The Des Plaines Valley Council will send a total of 72 Scouts and 8 Leaders in 2 Troops to celebrate Scouting’s 100th anniversary at the National Jamboree. The Jamboree will be held at Fort A. P. Hill, VA and will run from July 26, 2010 through August 4, 2010. It will include time for travel and tours in our nation’s capital.
The Scoutmasters for the Des Plaines Valley Council Contingent to the National Jamboree have been selected. They are Robert Schoenthaler and Michael Carioscio. Along with their Assistant Scoutmasters they will give leadership to our Troops attending the National Boy Scout Jamboree.
What is there to do at a Boy Scout National Jamboree? You name it! The jamboree program reflects the skills of Scouting—physical fitness, environmental conservation, our national heritage, and the true spirit of Scouting. Details may be found on the National Jamboree web site.
To participate, a Scout must be at least a First Class Scout and must have completed the sixth grade or be at least 12 years of age by July 1, 2010, but not have reached their 18th birthday by August 4, 2010. Cost for the Jamboree will be $2,200.
