Venturing Kick Off, 8/20/08

Join other Venturing crews and ships as we discuss the activities for the coming year. We will start with Miniature Golf at 6:30, have pizza, and then hand out information for the year. We have a yearly calendar to share, and flyers for our upcoming outings! Come and tell us what you would like to do this year!

Square Knots Approved for Female Venturers

A Council Scout Executive is allowed to authorize some uniform modifications within the Council. Our Scout Executive, Irene Szinavel, has approved the following modifications. Female Venturers who have earned the Girl Scouts' Gold Award and/or a Girl Scouts' religious emblem may wear a square knot to represent those awards on the green Venturing blouse.

Contact Ernie Froemel, ernie@uchicago.edu or 708-354-9386 to reserve either of these awards. Note that the square knot for the religious emblem may also be purchased at the Scout Store at 811 Hillside, LaGrange.

Traditionally, male Venturers have worn square knots to represent the the Arrow of Light, Eagle Award, or religious emblem earned as Boy Scouts.

We realize that most crews do not use this as their uniform, but for those who do, this is an option.
